I am running macOS 10.13.2 I connect via terminal app with ssh to a non-mac system and am getting this error message:
I am currently running Mojave which has the following ssh -V OpenSSH7.9p1, LibreSSL 2.7.3 Before moving to macOS Big Sur, I'd like to know the default version of SSH on it. OpenSSH updates in macOS 10.12.2 macOS 10.12.2 includes version 7.3p1 of OpenSSH. This technote documents some ssh behavior changes over previous macOS versions introduced in this update.

Open Terminal in the Applications Utilities folder. Type open.ssh in the terminal window then press the Return key. This opens the.ssh folder which contains the file knownhosts. Drag knownhosts into the trash then close the.ssh folder. Mac OS X includes a command-line SSH client as part of the operating system. To use it, goto Finder, and selext Go - Utilities from the top menu. Then look for Terminal. Terminal can be used to get a local terminal window, and also supports SSH connections to remote servers.
I don't know how long this has been broken as I don't connect to this server often. I would have thought it would work, since the /etc/ssh/ssh_config file has this for the defaults:
# Ciphers aes128-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes256-ctr,aes128-cbc,3des-cbc
I don't have ciphers defined in my ~/.ssh/config file, so it should just be using the defaults.
