  • Copayments and cost-shares are subject to change at the beginning of each calendar year.
    • Copayments are per occurrence or per visit.
    • Cost-shares are a percentage of the contracted rate for network providers and the maximum TRICARE allowable for non-network providers on certain types of services.
  • Beneficiaries have an out-of-pocket maximum for covered medical expenses; this is known as the catastrophic cap.
  • Point of Service cost-shares and deductibles may apply to TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Prime Remote beneficiaries (excluding active duty service members).
  • Browse our extensive directory of the best TRICARE Therapists, TRICARE Psychologists and TRICARE Counselors near you.
  • TRICARE covers physical therapy when furnished by a PT, or PTA performing under the supervision of a TRICARE-authorized PT. PTAs were recognized as TRICARE-authorized providers as of April 16, 2020. See TRICARE's website for a description of covered services and providers.
  • Physical therapy to treat a physical or occupational deficiency due to a cognitive or developmental disorder for beneficiaries age three to 21 requires a physician letter of attestation whenever there is evidence presented to TRICARE that there is an individualized education program in place for special education services.

Important Note: Active duty service members do not have any out-of-pocket costs for care.

2021 Costs

Therapy

There’s no coinsurance, copay or deductible for an annual wellness visit. If the member has had Medicare Part B for more than 12 months, they’re entitled to an annual wellness visit with a primary care provider to develop or update a personalized prevention plan, based on their current health and risk factors. A copay is what you are usually required to pay when you visit a doctor, the hospital, or receive any healthcare service. For more cost information, check out the TRICARE website.
